Engaged

“YOU'RE ENGAGED, AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME!” Rose screeched at her twin.
“I was going to.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Rose growled, “I guess I’m not an important part of your life anymore.”
“Of course you are,” Tulip scoffed.
“Apparently not,” Rose growled. With that she turned and stormed back into the kitchen.
“Come in Alec,” Tulip told her fiance, “I’ll make her come around. Don’t worry about
it.” Alec slipped past her and walked into the house.
“Hey,” Alec said as he walked into the kitchen.
Rose just turned and glared at him and Tulip.
“Rooooooooose, I swear I was going to tell you,” Tulip sighed to her sister.
“Sure you were,”
“Come on Rose,”
Rose turned to her sister and huffed out a “Fine.”
“Are we going to eat or not?” Iris asked butting into their conversation.
“Ya ya,” Tulip waved her sister off.
They once again sat at the table, but this time with Alec on Tulip’s right side.
“So,” Rose started looking at Alec. “How old are you?”
“Twenty-one.”
“You always did like older men,” Rose teased Tulip, referring to the fact that Tulip was only nineteen.
“Tulip turned and glared at her sister. “Two years Rose, two years.” Rose just smiled at her.
“On that note,” Iris paused. “What do you do for a living?”
“I work for the ministry.”
“Look at you Tulip, you got yourself a wizard!” Rose squealed.
“What branch do you work in?”
“Care of magical creatures.”
“Sounds fun, I’m training to be an auar.”
“What wizarding school did you do to?” Alec asked Rose.
“Hogwarts. What about you?”
“I went to Hogwarts as well.”
“Wow I can’t believe I don’t know you. What house were you in?”
“Ravenclaw.”
“I was a Gryffindor.”
“I remember you now,” Alec grinned, as Tulip got up to put their plates in the sink. “You were on the quidditch team.”
“Ya, I was a chaser.”
“Come on guys let's go into the living room,” Tulip suggested, so they all got up and filed into the living room.
After talking late into the night the four went upstairs to bed.
Around seven in the morning the door rang; waking up the sleeping sisters.
Rose turned to Iris. “Who is it?”
“How am I supposed to know?” snapped Iris. She had never been a morning person.
“Well let’s go see,” Rose rolled out of bed and walked out the door without waiting for her sister.
“Jasmine,” Rose squealed running to her sister whom had just walked into the house.
“Hi Rose,” Jasmine laughed and hugged her sister. She than followed Tulip into the living room, but she stopped short when she saw Alec sitting on the couch.
“Who’s he?” She asked.
“That’s Alec,” Tulip explained.
“He’s Tulip’s fiance,” Rose cut in.
Jasmine turned to Tulip excitement seeping onto her face.
“You’re engaged! I’m so excited! I get to be a bridesmaid!” she screeched. Then she paused and looked Tulip in the eye.
“I do get to be a bridesmaid,” she paused. “Don’t I?”
“Of course you are,” Tulip scoffed, and Jasmine smiled at her.
“When are you getting married?” Jasmine asked her.
“Well that’s really why I wanted you guys to come,” Tulip paused “We’re getting married in a month.
“A month,” Rose echoed in shock.
“You could have told us sooner,” Jasmine turned to glare at her youngest sister.
“Well I was going to, but I didn’t know how you were going to react.” Tulip tried to explain herself.
“Let’s go sit in the living room,” Iris suggested.
After settling down, Tulips sisters once again turned to her.
“Are we going to be bridesmaids?” asked Iris
“Of course you are,” Tulip scoffed.
“Ooh! When are we going dress shopping?” Iris asked.
“I don’t know any time I guess.” Tulip answered.
“Where is it at?” Rose questioned.
“Grafway Park,”
“Sorry girls, but I have to go to work,” Alec excused himself and exited the house.
After discussing wedding details and having lunch the sisters decided to go dress shopping.
“Do you want a separate dress for Rose because she’s the maid of honor or do you want it to be the same?” Jasmine questioned her sister as they looked through racks of dresses.
“I think I want it to be the same,” Tulip turned to Rose. “How’s that sound?”
“Perfect!” Rose grinned at her.
“How about blue?” Iris asked holding up a long navy dress.
“I was thinking shorter, and maybe a tangerine.”
“Ok,” Iris replied as she put the dress back on the rack.
Finally, after three hours of shopping, they found a dress that everyone loved and went back to

Tulip’s.

Poems

Moth
I’m a moth,
Much like a butterfly, but overlooked
Not quite as pretty, and not quite as graceful.
I’m a moth.

I’m a moth,
Simple and plain
Not quite as good.
I’m a moth.

O butterfly I wish I could be
Beautiful and Loved
Graceful and Cherished.
O butterfly I wish I could be.

I am a moth
overlooked by many but loved by great
Simple and Plain, but strong.
I am a moth.

Driving
With a jolt I slam my foot into the pedal.
The car lurches into motion just as I had wanted.
Wait this isn’t what I planned,
Go forward go forward.

Bam! It hadn't gone how I had wanted.
Turning it to the right gear I pulled my car back up the lane.
Looking back down at the tree,
I saw it laying on the ground looking small
Not off the ground.

The Brick Wall

Tall and towing with shadows so long,
The mighty brick wall won't stand at dawn.
As the morning birds sing their sweet sweet song.
The wall will fall just like a swan.

Money
Green the paper stares back at me
Farther than the eye can see.
It piles up to the rooftops high.
I can not seem to see the sky.

#2
So long and thin
And pointed tip
I wish I had thee in my hand,
For without you I can’t stand.

The path you make so sharp and grey.
I use my pencil everyday.

My Fridge
Hope sharp as day.
I feel it as I go on my way,
For in my fridge I hope to find
My favorite food in a bind.

Betrayal
Walking through the bright green grass.
I walked in the yard with all my sass.
Bonding up to in a halo of light;
Came my puppy to my delight

I raced up to him to ruffle his fur,
And with a jump he came right at me
And sunk his teeth into my arm.
Oh betrayed I had been by my sweet little dog.

Bravery
Creeping and crawling right over my bed.
The eight legged creature was next to my head.
I rolled right to the side and fell with a yell.
Grabbing my shoe, I arose from the floor
And stomped that black spider back onto the ground.

Slipping and Sliding
Slipping and sliding down the dark hall,
I can’t stop to greet you,
for I don’t want to fall.
I should have stopped to grab a shoe,
But slipping and sliding is fun in the fall.

Swans and Fawns
Graceful and white
Just like a kite.
It came with all it’s spite.
As it was in flight.

It’s eyes landed on it so tiny and small
It looked up with worry and let out a call,
But it had been spotted there was nothing to do
But turn on its haunches and run towards the zoo.

Still the swan came a blanket of white
And that was the end of the chase of might,
For no longer did the fawn fight.

Fish
Swimming in and out
Up and down
The fish came to me
In the sea.

Reunited

As she walked along the street the tiny dragon in her pocket stirred restlessly. Having reached her destination she stopped, turned to the door, and knocked. A blond muggle stuck her head out the door and looked up and down the street.
“Hello?” she called into the darkness, “Anyone there?”
The woman in the street took out her wand and made herself visible once again.
“How’s it going Tulip?”
“Rosie, I thought you weren’t coming till Tuesday,” Tulip stated in shock.
“I got off early. Why don’t you want me here?” Rose teased her sister.
“Of course! I want you here,” Tulip exclaimed, “Come in Come in,” Rose slipped past her sister into the house.
“I’ll get the guest room ready for you.”
“Thanks.”
Tulip hurried up the stairs to prepare the guest room. Rose walked into the living room and looked around. The walls were a nice cream color, and there was a big couch and some chairs around a lighted fire place. Rose sat down on the couch and stared into the fire thinking.
“Where's your luggage?” Tulip asked, coming down the stairs and snapping Rose out of her thoughts.
“Oh it’s right here,” Rose pulled her wand and a tiny suitcase out of her pocket. She then proceeded to enlarge the suitcase to it’s original size. As Rose set her suitcase down the dragon in her pocket let out a loud yelp.
“Erebus! I’m so sorry I forgot you were in there,” Rose apologised as she pulled the dragon out of her pocket.
“What is that!” Tulip questioned her sister.
“This is Erebus,” Rose explained. “Don’t worry he’s harmless.”
“Can I touch him?”
“Sure you can hold him if you would like,” So Tulip lifted the baby dragon out of her sister's arms and into her lap.
Erebus yawned, curled up into a ball, and nuzzled Tulips hand.
“He is so adorable!” Tulip squealed as Erebus yawned again. Tulip moved the dragon off her lap and onto the couch. “Come on I’ll show you your room,” she said, grabbing Rose's hand and pulling her off the couch.
“Ok ok,” Rose laughed. “Don’t rip my arm off!” Tulip continued to pull Rose up the stairs and into a room with pale blue walls and a bunk bed in the far corner.
“Sorry your going to have to share with Iris I don’t have enough rooms for everyone,” Tulip explained.
“It’s alright,” Rose smiled at Tulip.
Tulip stayed and helped Rose unpack. Just as Rose was putting her last shirt in the closet the door bell rang. Tulip and Rose both hurried back downstairs to the door. Tulip reached the door first and swung it open.
“Iris!” Rose and Tulip cried at the sametime.
“Well I can see that three years apart can’t destroy your twin senses,” Iris laughed at the two.
“You know it,” they both replied.
“Come on in,” Tulip picked up her sisters trunk and walked back inside the warm house.
“Who else is here?” Iris questioned.
“Just you and Rose,” replied Tulip.
“When is Jasmine coming?”
“She said sometime tomorrow, but you never know with her,” Tulip laughed.
The three sisters wandered into the kitchen, and Rose and Iris sat at the table, while Tulip went over the the fridge.
“What do you guys want?” Tulip asked. “I have some marinated chicken.”
“That sounds good,” Iris agreed.
“Want some help?” Rose questioned as she went over the the fridge without waiting for an answer.
“Sure I would love some,” Tulip smiled at her twin.
“Where is your skillet?” Iris asked, looking into Tulips cupboards.
“It’s over the stove.”
“Oh,” Iris walked over to the stove, took reached up to take a skillet out of the cabinet over the stove, and grabbed the chicken from Rose.
The sisters talked while they made supper. They were just sitting down to eat when they heard the doorbell ring yet again.
“I’ll get it,” Rose announced. Rose walked to the door and opened it.
“Who are you?” Rose asked as she looked at the man on Tulips doorstep.
“Tulips fiance…” her replied with a confused expression on his face.
“Tulips not engaged,” Rose argued.
“Yes I am,” Tulip had come to the door.
Rose turned to her sister.
Don’t worry about it.” Alec slipped past her and walked into the house.
“Hey,” Alec said as he walked into the kitchen.
Rose just turned and glared at him and Tulip.
“Rooooooooose, I swear I was going to tell you,” Tulip sighed to her sister.

Nios Faide

Today is the day-the day I had always dreamed of. Today I was going through The Tunnel like many other drifters before me. the Tunnel is a long winding tunnel running under the Sticks. In order to go to the other side one must go through the Tunnel, but only the drifters may enter it.
As I was walking towards the entrance I could hear the voices of many Keepers. Finally I reached the clearing and walked to stand before the tunnel. As I was walking, I looked around and saw my sister Takisha. After today I would never see her again, as she was a Keeper and would never leave the Annulus. I looked away from her before sorrow could fill me, and continued walking to the mouth of the tunnel. With a deep breath, I stepped into the shadows.
I had been walking for hours without a single ray of sunlight, and only the light of my lantern. Then I saw a branch in the tunnel, and I knew that I had to choose, so I turned to the left and started to travel down the new path. The sound of footsteps filled the tunnel, and I stopped and whipped around. Peering into the dark I saw not the monster I thought I would, but a dog; with a relieved sigh I turned around and continued on my way. The dog followed me.
“Go away,” I told the dog looking it in the eye, but instead of turning around and walking away it jumped up and licked my face.
“Hey,” I yelled at it, “Don’t do that.” realising that the dog wasn’t going to leave I let it come with me and continued down the path.
Light! Up ahead I could see light! I gave a yelp of joy and started running towards it. When I got to it I could see that it was the other end of the tunnel, but no one was here. Had I gone the wrong way? Maybe I should have gone to the right instead, but I didn’t want to go back into the tunnel, so I looked around. I was in a clearing surrounded by trees as far as I could see. With a start I realized that I was in the Sticks. I could see mountains over the tops of the trees and decided that, that was the way I must go for I was told that Nios Faide was on the other side of the sticks, and if I wasn’t going to go through the Tunnel I would go through the Sticks.
I turned around to see if the dog was still there and it was, “ I guess you're coming with me” “Aren't you”
“Well if your coming you need a name,” I thought for a moment and decided on the perfect one.
“I’m going to call you Ares.”  Ares yipped happily and liked my hand, and I decided that he liked the name. Turning I started towards the mountains. I walked until the sun had sunk behind the mountain and my feet ached. My stomach rumbled as I sat down, and I realised that food was going to be a problem; seeing as I had none. Dismissing my hunger I went to sleep.
My face was wet. Ares had woken me up and the sun was just starting to rise. Ares yipped happily and jumped up to lick my face.
“Stop!” I laughed at Ares. “Your so gross.” I dusted myself off and started walking towards the mountains.
As I was a walking I spotted a blackberry bush and ran towards it with a new hop in my step. I reached the bush and started shoveling blackberry's into my mouth. I fed a few to Ares, but he didn’t seem to like them very much. I would have to find something for him to eat before we reached the Nios Faide or as some people like to call it the other side. I moved on from the berry bush and walked towards the sound of the stream. I scooped some water into my mouth, and saw that there was fish in the stream. I wading into the stream and tried to catch one, but I slipped and fell into the stream. I pulled myself out and grabbed a stick and sharpened the tip with the knife I keep in my boot. I waded back into the stream and tried to stab the fish. It took  me a couple tries, but I soon got the hang of it and caught three.
I collected some wood and started a fire, drying myself off and cooking the fish. When they were done I skinned them, and gave two too Ares, and kept one for myself. After Ares and I had eaten I got up and started walking. It was late in the evening and I was hungry again, so I got out some of the blackberries I had collected and ate them. I started to look for a stream, but I didn’t find one before it had turned dark, so I just laid down, ate the rest of my blackberries, and went to sleep.
I woke up the next morning as the sun was rising, woke up Ares, and started walking. I reached the mountains at midday, and started climbing. I had been walking for ages, and it was starting to get dark, but I couldn’t sleep with all this wind, so I started to look for shelter. All the sudden I heard Ares yip, and rock break off of the mountain side.
“Ares!” I screamed fearing that he had fallen. “Ares!” I scrambled over to where he was last, but night had fallen and I couldn’t see anything.
I walked along the cliff edge and called for Ares. As I was walking the rock under me fell taking me with it.
I woke up in pain hearing Ares’ whimpers. I pushed myself into a sitting position looking around for Ares.
“Ares,” I called. I heard rocks moving behind me, and Ares emerged from the rocks.
