The Accidental Hostage

The bell rang. I grabbed my stuff and threw it all into my bag, zipping it up afterwards. I swung my bag over my shoulders and walked out into the hall to meet my friend, Adina. While I waited for her I noticed something different about today.
The cheerleaders didn’t walk into the school side by side, the teachers weren’t in their classrooms and Adina wasn’t on time. She is always on time. I pulled my phone out and dialed her number. The phone rang for awhile before going straight to voicemail; I called her again, hoping she would pick up this time. I was wrong, it went to voicemail again.
I shoved my phone back in my pocket and went to the front office, I signed out and headed to my car unlocking it before I got there. I got in and buckled up. Then I started up my car and drove a few blocks until I got to Adina’s house. Once I got there I got out and walked up the stairs, leading to her door. I walked inside without knocking and hollered, asking if anyone was home. I didn’t get a response.
“Hello?” I asked once more. Silence.
I walked up the stairs to Adina’s room and looked around, no sign of her being here. I walked down the hall to the bathroom then her little brother’s room. Still no sign of anyone home. I then walked back down the stairs and was about to leave when I heard a noise. I stopped my heart began to race. I slowly walked around the house, looking for someone, anyone. I heard another noise coming from the kitchen. I walked into the kitchen, still not a sign of anyone there. I walked a little further towards the basement door. The floor crept a few times as I walked slowly. I twisted the doorknob quietly, revealing the darkness. I took a deep breath before speaking.
“Anyone down there?” I asked, looking straight ahead of me.
I heard a few whispers, my heart was almost pumping out of my chest now. I bit down on my bottom lip, trying not to make a sound. I backed up a bit trying to shut the door quietly behind me. I took another deep breath and walked slowly to the front door. I opened up the door once more as I felt someone's grip on my shoulder, and before I knew it, it was dark.
I woke up in a dark empty room. All I saw were a few chairs, some water bottles, and old wrinkled blankets. I noticed I was tied to a chair. I tried to untie myself but failed. Moments later I heard someone coming down the flight of stairs. I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.
“She is right here sir,” A man said with a scratchy voice. I kept quiet.
“Good job Christopher,” another man said as he walked toward me. I tried my best to sit still yet relaxed so it looked like I was sleeping.
“How are you sure this is the right girl I am looking for?” the man next to me asked.
“I am not one-hundred percent sure she is the right one sir,” said Christopher. I pretended to wake up. I looked around, acting scared.
“Well hello there,” the other man said. I looked away quickly.
“Don’t be shy sweetie,” he said as he took a seat next to me.
“Your name is Adina Mae Bruce, right?” the man asked as I took a small peek at him.
“What if it isn’t?” I asked, looking down at the ground.
“Then Christopher did his job wrong once again,” the man replied. I nodded my head.
“Well my name is Berkeley Rosa Bryer sir,” I stated with confidence so he wouldn’t think I was lying.
“Christopher!” The man yelled as he jerked his head towards him. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
“I am so sorry sir, I was believed she was the right one. I swear.” Christopher pleaded as he stared at me. I looked the other way quickly.
“Pardon me sir but why am I still here if I am not the right one?” I asked, hoping for a calm response. The man took a deep breath and began to speak.
“We wouldn’t want you going around telling everyone someone kidnapped you on accident now would we?” the man said as he stood up, walking to the door.
“Well the girl you are looking for happens to be my friend. Why do you want her?” I asked, trying to state the obvious.
“Her father owes us money that he won’t give to us, therefor we want to take something from him until he pays us,” Christopher blurted.
“Her father isn’t even alive anymore,” I said plainly. They both looked at me when I finished saying those last words. I looked down trying not to cry.
“Well then, I guess we don’t have a purpose for his daughter, right Chris?”  the man asked with a smirk on his face. I let a few tears fall down my face.
“No sir, but we need the money still.” Chris replied as my head shot up.
“We will just keep the girl hostage until her parents pay up the money their friend owes,” said the man as he untied me and picked me up, putting me into a room and locking the door behind him as he left me there all alone.
I cried to myself knowing my life was in danger and I couldn’t do anything about it until my parents payed the men money for someone else’s actions. Hours later I woke up tied back in the same chair. There were more people this time, most of them were guys. I saw a little kid in the far back,  a boy I believe. I squinted my eyes a little trying to see the boy’s face. Then it hit me. The little boy was my step-brother. He was being tortured, by watching me suffer.
“What is my brother doing here?” I yelled as my eyes filled with tears.
“To watch you suffer,” A man said as he came close to me with a gun. He loaded the gun and held it to the right side of me head. Chris got his phone out and began to record me, saying a few things about the money and how they had my brother as well. I was sure the video was for my parents. I laid my head down as the man counted down the time before wanting to pull the trigger.
“Wait!” A weak voice said as the man got to the number three.
I shot my head up, noticing it was my brother who spoke. I shook my head left to right, telling him no.
“Don’t kill her,” my brother spoke softly. I cried more, knowing they would hurt him next.
“Well if we don’t kill her then it will have to be you that goes,” Chris said with a chuckle.
“No! Just stop, please,” I said, scanning the room.
“My parents won’t pay you guys anything if you kill us,” I stated as I stopped my eyes from watering.
“That’s too bad, I am quite sure they wouldn’t want both of you gone now, would they?” A woman said as she picked up a gun and loaded it.
She walked to my little brother and held the gun against his forehead. I cried more as she pulled the trigger slowly before letting go. That was it, my brother was gone. Blood shot out as he became weak, letting his head dangle from his neck. I screamed at everyone, pulling and kicking all around.
I was hurt. Soon enough I felt the strings become loose. I stood up and began to run to the back of the room where I saw an open window. I quickly climbed out and ran as far and as fast as I could. I made it to town, and I wasn’t sure where my parents would be so I ran to the police station.
Once I got there I told them everything and they went out to find the place where I was held at. My parents showed up at the police station, I told them about my brother Kolby. They cried and cried but were thankful I made it out of there, unharmed. The men were found, months later and were sent to jail.

Weeks after the men were captured I was walking home alone in the dark where I felt someone following me, I stopped and waited to see if anyone was there. Soon enough I heard something clicked and everything was dark.

Getaway

Getaway

“Hurry up! We got 90 seconds to get the money and get out of here, or we will have the whole state of  Texas on us!” says Lance as sirens were blaring everywhere.
“Wow! There has got to be at least $100 million cash in here!” I yell.
“It is the biggest bank in Dallas!” Lance replies.
Lance and I quickly shoved money into the trunks of our cars. It is a race against time. We are robbing the biggest bank in Dallas.
“30 more seconds!” he announces.
I finish packing the last of the money and yell, “I’m ready to leave!”
“OK, Kane. You’re the driver, so I’m following you.” he says.
“I put directions in your GPS. If all goes as planned that’s the way out of the city, but if not, be listening to you walkie-talkie because I’ll tell any changes in our route.” I tell him.
He gets into the cars and start the engines, and they shook the entire room. He then drove out of the bank parking garage, and we are off. We fly down Main Street, and we are met by two cops, so we make a sudden right turn.
I grab the walkie-talkie and say, “Danggit, Lance. We just left the building and we are already off course. Do you know this city well enough to get out of it?”
He replies, “Yeah, well, kind of. I’m gonna head south until I’m out of the city. Then we’ll go from there.”
He takes a sharp left, but I keep going straight. Three blocks forward I take a left, and head straight for two blocks, and take a another left.
“Hey Lance, how are you doing?” I say. I wait for a response, but I don’t get one. I then take a right and I am back on track. I start to worry about Lance because there are lots of cop cars and helicopters. I was scared because I don’t have Lance with me. He always knows what to do, but for all I know he has been arrested or killed. I just start drove until I was out of the city into this small town in West, Texas with a motel.
I keep calling out on the walkie-talkie, but there is still no reply. I didn’t sleep much that night because not only because my best-friend could be dead, but I am wanted in the whole state of Texas.
The next morning, I wake up and I hide the car in a scrapyard about a mile away from the motel because I bet they might have the car in their records. I walk back to the motel and sit around the walkie-talkie and finally fall asleep.
I wake up to something on the walkie-talkie that sounds like Lance.
I run over and ask, “Lance is that you?”
“Yeah it’s me. Where are you at?”
“I’m over at some motel in a small town called West, Texas. Where are you?”
“I’m south of San Antonio, almost to Mexico. Some guys here say they can get me across the border, but it will cost.”
“That’s fine,” I replied, “We are millionaires.”
“We’ll meet in Lancing, Texas. It’s about an hour away from San Antonio.” says Lance, “It’s a long drive. See you soon.”
I run to the scrapyard, and hop into the car. As I’m driving through town, one of the local police start chasing me, and that turned into the whole town on me. They weren’t anything like the police in Dallas, so it was pretty easy to escape from them.
Now that I know my car has been recorded, I know I can’t go through San Antonio because that would be bad. That makes this drive even longer.
I make it to Lancing without anymore trouble, so I get back on the walkie-talkie.
“I’m in Lancing. Where do you want to meet?”
Then a random man says, “Your friend is at the warehouse downtown. Come with all the money, and make sure you aren’t being followed.”
I enter the warehouse, and Lance is strapped to a chair, covered in blood. I pull out my pistol and out of nowhere come about 20 gang member with different weapons. I run to cover and start fighting to save Lance. I look up and count 17 gang members. I shoot one. 16. Then I just go from there. 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. The last one was the one taking cover behind Lance. His foot was open, so I shot him. He fell down to the ground screaming in pain, so I took a shot and killed him.
“You OK?” I ask Lance.
“Better than I’ve ever been.” Lance joked.
“Well, how are we going to get to Mexico?”
“We’re not.”
“Why? Are we just gonna hide until this whole thing blows over?”
“No, you’re under arrest.” Then cops came in from every direction of the building.
“You betrayed me?” I asked in disbelief.
“I was never with you. I was sent from the CIA to take you down.”
“Wow, after all we’ve been through?”

“Doesn’t matter now, does it?”

Boy Frigid: The Origin

January 12, 1956
Diary of Renbar Bridger
Entry 146
To Whom It May Concern,
The powers grow stronger. Maybe moving to Alaska to pick ice wasn’t the greatest of ideas. It has triggered something inside of me. My mother had always said that her father had it, and that it skipped generations. I commonly have visions of him, and what his life was like with the powers. I can manipulate the cold and my new weakness is hot. When I get the chance, I will move my wife, Becky, and I to colorado to have a baby. I will make sure it is in the winter. That summer, my life will come to an end, but it’ll be worth it. Becky and I plan on having a child in the next twenty years. She doesn’t know my plans, but she does know of my power. She is the only one I can trust. My real worry is someday I will become a grandad. Therefore, there is a chance that my grandson or granddaughter could wield such a power as I do today. One day, I dream that this power will be used more than for picking ice. Maybe the power will never be exposed. To be honest, I was normal until I moved from the hot coast of California. However, if one day this power is wielded again, I advise you to use it wisely and responsibly. Remember, your situation is not always a choice, but your actions are.

Current Time
Grayson threw his bag onto his back as he lifted himself from the uncomfortable chair. Another terrible Algebra class down. He was the first out the door everyday, and that didn’t change today. On his way out the door, he’s shoved lightly from behind. There he was. The next shove came, causing Grayson to fall to the ground. Grayson’s childhood bully was different than others. He was 5’10 and about 210 pounds. The only difference from his bully to others is that his wasn’t stupid.
Grayson retrieved his dropped things, in an attempt to ignore the assault.
“Get over here Bridger!” the beast of an eighth grader yelled. Now begins the pursuit. Grayson ran through the halls and past the gym. He span around the couples who definitely cheated every rule of P.D.A. and up past the football players.
The bully continued after him and had full intentions of leaving Grayson broken. Grayson scurried up the hall and slid under the swing door into the kitchen. The boy stood as a shadow to the cooks inside. He snuck into the freezer where he figured he would wait until the bell rang. He would be fine with getting a tarty if it meant he didn’t get beat up. The chilly air of the freezer began to hit Grayson the farther he traveled into the freezer. The frozen solitude wasn’t very big and contained a couple of lunch boxes, popsicles, and crappy fake school lunch foods. The boy checked his watch to see a time of 11:32, meaning that the bell would ring in less than a minute. Grayson smirked and rested his neck upon an icy shelf. He’d won again, the pursuit was over. At Least these were his thoughts, until he his eyes locked onto the sight of nightmares. A furious enlarged boy stood in the sights of Grayson. There he stood, 5’10 and 210. His hand grasped the handle on the opposite side side of the door where he stood.
“You lose Bridger.” he said as he slammed the door and trotted off to class. Grayson’s heart dropped and plopped at the bottom of his stomach.
“Oh no.” he pondered. Grayson hoisted body to the door, only gaze upon the horrifying sight of no handle on the inside of the door. The absence of a handle had quickly caused Grayson to panic. He went to the back of the freezer and grabbed one of the lunchboxes. He opened it to reveal a frozen banana, a water bottle, and a sandwich. “Great,” he thought “So many things to get the door open in this thing. He ran towards the door and began pounding and screaming for help. Surely the cooks would be in here at lunchtime, he just had to stick it out. He walked over next to his bag and unzipped the largest pocket. He yanked his coat from its resting place inside the bag among his notebooks. He threw it on and sat down up against the door. Grayson checked his watch. 11:39 was the time on the face. Why hadn’t the cooks began to prepare the food yet? Grayson shuttered under his jacket. His jeans and long sleeve shirt were fitting for the season of winter, but weren't exactly the “right choice” for sitting in a freezer. Colorado had rough winters, but they weren’t as bad as the winters in Alaska, according to Grayson’s mother. She had told him stories that were passed on by her mother, and how his grandpa had never been the same once living in Alaska. Grayson’s mind began to daydream for only a split second until a loud echoing sound came from outside the arctic box. It was the school intercom.
“Attention, all staff and students. Due to harsh blizzard weather, school will be canceled for the day.” screamed the principal's voice. Grayson’s mind spun and searched for answers. He realized that is why the cooks weren’t in the kitchen, and why no kids were coming to get there school lunch. He realized that no one would be coming. For the first time, Grayson realized he could die in his own school freezer. The idea stabbed Grayson, as he plowed his head into his backpack and began to shed tears. He shed those tears, until he didn’t have anymore to shed. The cold of the freezer slowly put Grayson under and would slowly and painfully kill him. The trampling and cheering of children and middle schoolers exciting the school were the last thing Grayson heard before completely blacking out.
Grayson’s eyebrows lifted the black from his sight. He slowly checked his surroundings. He was in a hospital bed, and his entire body stung, and was too hot for his own comfort. He found two people sitting in one a reclining chair next to him. His mourning mother, and his father, attempting to comfort her.
“Mom?” Grayson mumbled. The brightness in his mother’s eyes was like what you would see in a cartoon.
“My baby boy!” she yelled as she wrapped her arms around Grayson. Her tears meet his bed, but he didn’t mind. Grayson’s father smiled from ear to ear, with water beginning to fill his eyes. A nurse came in the room and looked upon us with awe. What happened next was unexplainable for Grayson. His eye sight flickered to a similar scene. Hanging above him was a women who had the same body shape as his mother. When he looked at her face, he noticed the familiar face of his grandma, but in a much younger year. He looked to where the nurse had been standing to see another nurse, with the same expression, but a different person. The nurse had on an outfit that was one that would be worn by a nurse during an older time.  Grayson soon realized that he was in a flashback. He blinked and was back into his “normal self”. The nurse quickly left the room to go talk to someone about what he had witnessed. Grayson knew exactly what the nurse was going to say. The nurse would tell whoever that it was impossible that he lived. Grayson didn’t feel the same way he did before the encounter at his school. He was different, way different.
That night the Bridger’s were told that Grayson must stay in the hospital for a few more days or even weeks depending on how Grayson healed. Grayson laid awake while his parents quickly fell into slumber after their long day of stress. The sting of heat in his body had been bothering him all day and was not going away anytime soon. Ignorantly, Grayson quietly pulled the IV from his arm and arose from his bed. To his surprise, his body wasn’t sore. He scurried over to his sorry excuse for a “closet” and slipped into his favorite shirt and red hoodie. He placed his baseball cap upon his head backwards so his hair would stick out above the snapback. Just how he liked it. He slipped his jeans on secured him with a belt and walked over to the window. He looked back at his parents. He grinned and thought how thankful he was for them and how they knew exactly what he wanted to be wearing when he walked out of this place. He looked back at his reflection in the mirror. His mop of straight brown hair came out of all sides of the hat. His green eyes reflected brightly above his groups of freckles which rested upon his cheeks.
Grayson opened the window quietly and kicked out the screen. He didn’t know what was driving him to do all of this, but he needed cold and fresh air. He shut the window behind him and left a little crack to make sure he could get back in. He had made sure to crank the heat all the way up in his room before leaving, so he could make sure that the draft wouldn’t awake his parents and cause them to be aware of his absence. His toes balanced on the windowsill above the two story building. He was on the third floor of the hospital. Grayson nervously giggled, and decided he should just forget about it and go back inside. When he turned to go back inside the window, his foot slipped, and he began to fall down to building. Fear overtook Grayson as he closed his eyes and put his hands under him to embrace the harsh fall onto the concrete 30 feet below. Instead of plunging to his death, air came underneath Grayson’s arms and he began to levitate above the ground and slowly placed himself on the concrete of the parking lot. Another flashback came, of a man doing the same exact thing, in the same exact way. It had only lasted a second before Grayson regained his thoughts. He didn’t understand how he was not dead right now. The cold of the snow blowing in the wind swept through his body and made him feel very rich inside.
Grayson quickly began to experiment in the cold of the night. He found the ability to create perfect snowballs at the snap of a finger and build snowmen with a blink of an eye. He began building snow monsters and making them come to life and fighting them as if he were some kind of gladiator. He began skating through the streets on just his white nike tennis shoes, and up and down the main streets of the town. No one was around at this time of night in this kind of weather, and it was very peaceful for Grayson. Something had happened to him, and he loved it. While catching snowflakes on his tongue on top of a building, he watched a man walk towards the electronics store and doing what appeared to be picking a lock. He knew he might possibly be able to help this man if he needed it, or stop something from happening. Grayson jumped from atop the building and looked inside the window. He quickly realized this man was robbing the store. Grayson froze the lock on the door which the thief had locked behind him upon entering the store. The lock clicked and Grayson quietly sneaked in. The man did not notice him as he snuck behind the main counter and scurried toward the store’s phone. The boy dialed three digits into the phone: 911. He then laid the phone down and let in ring. He formed several snow balls from outside the store, he then froze the snowballs so they were ice. Grayson was now ready to approach the man. He slid right at him while screaming, unleashing his emotions. This very much startled the man, causing him to launch himself backwards. Grayson hoisted the snowballs at the man's head causing him to be knocked out cold. The boy dragged the man to front counter and froze his hands to the counter. He made sure to leave a note for the police. He realized he had to label himself, so he just came up with something on the spot. The note read-
Police,
Caught him trying to thief on this arctic night
-Boy Frigid
Grayson walked out of the convenient store and left it unlocked as he watched a police car travel his way. He disappeared around the corner and headed back toward the hospital where he knew his parents would devastated if they woke up and didn’t find him there. A random thought had come into his mind on the way back to the hospital that night. Remember, your situation is not always a choice, but your actions are.
“Boy Frigid?” he asked himself, “Heck, why not”?

Story of the Survivor

I was walking to my car as I felt a hand grab my arm. I held my breath, hoping it was my friend. I heard a deep voice but couldn’t make out what it said. I felt the grip get tighter and start to drag me. I fought back, but he was stronger. I was thrown into a van. The walls were filled with tools. That’s all I remember before he gave me a shot.
I awoke to this dark room with weird black walls that had blood on them. I was going to die, and the last person I was going to see is my killer. I saw an exit; I struggled to get up off of the floor. I started to run towards the door only to be pulled back by chains. The chains were on my wrists and ankles and were connected to the floor.
I screamed and screamed, but no one heard me. I mean no one not even the person who kidnapped me. I heard the creaking of the door, and he walked in. He changed the chains I was in. Now they were stronger. They were gold and were tighter than the last.
“Violet, what a pleasant surprise to see you!”  he said. “You were the hardest one to catch.”
“Who are you?” I asked and wanted an answer.
“Your worst nightmare,” he replied with a snarl. “Now, I’m gonna give you a chance to escape; I just won’t tell you when.”
That is gonna be easy, I thought. Who would take you into a dark room and let you escape easy. No one would. This is a trick. He is gonna follow my every move.
I fell asleep on the cold, hard concrete floor. I had dreams of my family at home. What are they doing now? How are the taking this? What is going to happen to them if I don’t come back?
I woke up to a loud bang. He threw a book in my direction. It read My List. It was full of names and some names were checked off. His kill list was in my hands. Why?
“Are you mad at all these people including me?”
“You broke my car! You ruined my life! Now you are going to pay, Violet!” he yelled at me and made me flinch.
“What? I have no clue what you are talking about.”
“You hit me and made me crash my car. I lost hearing in one ear, broke my arm, broke both my legs, and my car was totalled.”
“What crash?” I don’t know.
He threw a newspaper in my direction. It was about a crash that happened last year.
Car Crashes Updates
Car crash involving two people. One 34 year old female named Violet Duchannes and one 37 male named James Richmond. Violet got some brain damage and James broke his legs and left arm, lost hearing in his right ear. Both cars totalled. James’ car was hit by a Semi. He went on the other side of the road and hit Violet wiping them off the road. No picture has been taken yet. Update of this crash will appear when more information comes up.
“You were hit by a Semi not me. You hit me!” I yelled at him angrily.
“No! That’s not what it says,” James shouted back at me.
He grabbed the newspaper and read it. He threw it down and started pacing the room, mumbling something over and over again. Then he threw a key in my direction.
“Try to escape because you aren’t worth killing.”
I grabbed the key with my mouth and tried getting it into my hands. It was tough, but eventually I got my hands free. Now to start working on my feet. I got them free within seconds. The hard part was that I have to get into town, and I had no clue where I was. I looked out the window and all I could see was these big trees that they had been spray painted black.
He turned on the news, so I decided to sit and watch what was on the news. There was an FBI agent by the name of Aaron Hotchner. I heard of him, and he is the leader of the BAU. I’m joining the BAU, but I can’t with this psycho keeping me in this random place. My picture showed up on the screen, and he said that they are looking for me.
“Where am I?” I asked.
James kept staring off in the distance. “Somewhere.”
His voice sounded sad and distant. I stared at him for a few minutes before I heard sirens. He grabbed his gun, and he held it to my head; he tightened his grip and started to stare at the door.
“James Richmond!” an F.B.I. agent yelled.
“We know you have Violet Duchannes in there with you. Please come out,” another one yelled.
His grip started to loosen and he started to drop his gun. I grabbed his gun, and I ran towards the door; then I started to run outside. I threw the gun at the police when he attacked me from behind.

I woke up in the hospital and I saw a F.B.I. agent known as Aaron Hotchner. He told me that James was going to be in jail for a long time and I was going to be safe.
